Blue Collar St. Bernards

The oldest of the "Odd Squad" is our black brindle and white American Staffordshire Terrier, Resue's High Octane, FMCH, RN, or Ockey (pronounced like hockey without the "H"). We originally got Ockey to play flyball, and for possibly showing, unfortunately she was too small to make standard so we her spayed and decided to do performance events with her, but she had a totally different idea about that.

Ockey started out in flyball and was doing pretty good until she realized that the dog in the other lane couldn't come take her ball, so what was the hurry, nope not flyball. So it was off to obedience, well she walked around like she had been beaten, tail tucked, ears back, and dragging along behind, nope not obedience. Aha, weight pulling, these little muscle bound beasts love to do this, that is most of them, but not Ockey. At her first pull I told her to work, she wagged her tail at me, turned around and climbed up on the cart and waited to get a ride, alas it isn't weight pulling that was her niche either. What the heck lets give agility a try, by gosh I think we found it, the first time she was just tearing up the course, no fear of anything and I was sure that this was it. By the 3rd lesson we were schlepping around the ring, totally bored with no desire to do any of the obsticles. My last hope, Rally Obedience, no you must realize that by now she is almost 10 years old, but who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? She got 3 good qualifying runs, and then I quit while I was ahead. So now Ockey's only purpose is to make us laugh, and she excells at that, she is our little clown for sure!
